Woman in Scotland received hundreds of private prescription records from Milton Keynes in the post
Following a huge data breach incident which involved the exposure of hundreds of personal prescription records for patients in Milton Keynes, Lloyds pharmacy have launched a formal investigation to find out how the files ended up at a woman’s house in Scotland.
The parcel was delivered to the woman’s private address in Elgin on the south coast of the Moray Firth in Scotland, which she suspects was meant for the NHS prescription services, nearly 400 miles away in Bolton, Greater Manchester.
The box of highly confidential documents had the woman’s name, address and phone number on it.
The shocked recipient said: “There was a carrier bag with a stack of hundreds of prescriptions from places like Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
“It’s got patients’ names, ages, home addresses, the practices they’ve been to and what they’ve been prescribed.
“They’re handwritten. It’s quite worrying. It’s all confidential information, plus how they’ve got my address to begin with. It’s bizarre.”
A Lloyds Pharmacy spokeswoman said: “We take any potential data breach extremely seriously and have robust systems in place to investigate any events involving the safe delivery of these prescriptions.
“Our Data Protection Officer has spoken to the person who had the package delivered and now has the details to carry out a detailed investigation.
“The personal data is secured and arrangements are being confirmed for the return to Lloyds Pharmacy.”
